Baptism: Millie Hernandez
Millie had faith in Christ since she was a young girl attending a Pentecostal church in Puerto Rico. At that time, however, she was experiencing feelings of shame and guilt from the church, as she was a jazz and ballet dancer, which wasn’t acceptable in this denomination of faith.
When she moved to Rochester at age 15, Millie and her mom started out at another Pentecostal church, but drifted away after experiencing similar feelings of judgment and shame.
Later on, she had a friend with whom she found herself talking about God. Neither of them was attending a church at the time, but they found Northridge and decided to try it out. Millie felt welcome and at home from the first time they came, and after coming to Northridge, she decided to rededicate her life to Christ.
Since deciding to continue her faith journey, Millie has been learning and growing in Christ without the guilt and shame. She’s joined a Community Group, and she now has a strong desire to learn more about God. She’s noticed a change in herself- more joy, and more attention to the things of Christ, and peace knowing that she’ll get to live in heaven one day.
She’s getting baptised to show the world that Jesus is her leader and forgiver of her sins.
