Baptism: Maria Copas-Santos

Before Maria came to Christ, she was desperate for love. Without a father figure in her life, she was looking for love in all the wrong places. At the age of 17, she found herself in a bad relationship. At 18, she was pregnant and gave birth to her daughter. The father of her baby left her shortly after. He took everything with him and told Maria she’d never be anything without him. Her world was shattered, and she was alone.

Maria’s friend Daniel (now husband) invited her to church. He also loved her and her daughter relentlessly. Daniel continued to invite her to church and told her to come for the free coffee and donuts. She eventually came and was amazed when the message touched on so many things she was struggling with. At first, she thought this was a coincidence. But this happened every time she returned.  At the same time, she was also going through a custody battle for her daughter, and Maria knew she had no control over anything. She started to give up. This is when she placed her faith in Christ. She clung to God’s promises that he is sovereign over everything and would protect her daughter regardless of the circumstances. Her life is purposeful now, and she is overwhelmed. She’s a wife and mother of two beautiful children, and she’s raising them to follow the Lord.  She has a good support system now and courage and confidence.

Maria is getting baptized to publicly declare that she’s trusted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.
