Baptism: Meaghan Slingerland

Meaghan grew up in a good home and was close to her mom.  But there were also drugs and alcohol in her house, and lots of deaths in the family.  She went to church mainly for funerals.  She went to a Catholic school and felt that Catholicism was forced on her, but she didn’t enjoy it.  When Meaghan attended orientation during college, she found the Naz Christian Fellowship Table.  Her mom said it might be good for her to check out.  So she planned to attend one meeting, and she’s been going ever since.  It has been a refreshing experience for her.

One particular rough day stands out to Meaghan.  That evening, she felt the need to pick up her Bible and ended up reading from the book of John.  The passage was about Jesus being the light, and followers of Jesus being filled with the light.  That night, it clicked with her.  She wanted more of Jesus in her life, and she wanted to radiate that light to others.  That was the moment she placed her faith in Christ and felt completely different.  In the past, she hadn’t contributed in her life group Bible study because she didn’t understand the passages.  Now she did.  She began sharing more in the group and applying it to her life.  It gave her the positive outlook on all the negative things in her life, and she knew everything would be ok.

Today Meaghan is getting baptized to proclaim her love for Jesus and take ownership of her faith.
