Scripture: Psalm 121


ICE BREAKER 

  1. Who is someone in your life you look up to and want to be like one day?

DISCUSSION (Ask one student to briefly recap the message).

  1. Where do you turn for help when your soul feels lost?

    1. What are you searching for at the surface of that help?

    2. What are you searching for under the surface of that help?

      1. Where might you be doubting the sufficiency of God’s help in the midst of that?

DIG DEEPER

  1. Read Psalm 121 out loud together as a group. 

    1. What are the details of God’s help according to this Psalm? Underline them!

  2. How has/is God being that same help for us through Jesus?

    1. How does that truth meet you in the corners of your life that you wonder if God is near?

APPLICATION / 1 Peter 5:6-7: Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that He may lift you up in due time  Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you

  1. All of our worries and fears are rooted in a lack of trust to the true identity and activity of Jesus. In what corners of your life/heart are you lacking trust in who Jesus is?

    1. Talk to God: If Jesus were sitting across from you and asked you to share those things with Him, what would you say? 

      1. Take a moment and say that to Him in prayer.

    2. Talk to Community: When we feel unseen or uncared for by God it is important to have people around us to remind us of the truth that He IS present and IS caring.  

      1. Who is someone you can share honestly with that will listen and remind you of God’s truth?
