Serve like JESUS

Northridge Young Adults is partnering with Flower City Outreach, specifically their Weekend Edition Ministry. Weekend Edition is an extension of Flower City Work Camp, focusing on single-day projects for homeowners in Rochester. Projects can range from replacing/fixing stairs to securing fixtures, painting, floor repair, yard work, or decluttering.

“BUT I’m not handy”…Don’t worry, every site will have a project manager who knows what they’re doing. Sometimes all they need is an extra set of hands.

Taking the gospel

to our streets

We go beyond the walls of our church with the gospel to strengthen families, fight poverty, and seek justice. So that lives are transformed, and Jesus is known. We are seeking to mobilize young adults, connecting them with our neighbors, to meet practical needs using our giftings and talents, while proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ.

I’m in. What do I need to do?

Because we are partnering with an outside organization and will be entering others’ homes, there are a few things Flower City Outreach requires of you.

  1. Register

    1. This commits you to serving on May 23rd. (If you can no longer come after registering, please email bblaschek@northridgerochester.com)

  2. Complete a background check.

    1. A link will be sent to your email after you register. This helps to ensure the safety of those we are serving

  3. A brief training the morning of the event to best equip you for the interactions you’ll have.

 Questions

  • Work appropriate clothes, closed-toe shoes, and a water bottle (though we’ll also be supplying water at the worksites, just in case)

  • We’ll be dropping off pizza at all of our work sites. We recommend you pack something if you have dietary restrictions or allergies.

  • No, everything needed will already be on site.

  • In your registration, indicate who you are coming with. Also, please ensure both you and your friend have registered and completed the background check.

  • That's totally fine! As long as you complete the registration and background check, you’re good to go. There’ll be a section for you to identify which church you go to, so we can properly group you with your community.

  • No problem! We will pair you with a group that has an open spot. Maybe they’ll be your future community group!

  • We will be going into others' homes, and there may be children around. To protect all parties, all participants are required to complete the background check.

  • Absolutely! Just make sure they fill out the registration form and the background check.

  • Please contact Bryan at bblaschek@northridgerochester.com
