Baptism: Katie Valentin

Katie’s faith background started in the Catholic church with her grandmother, but as she was growing up, she was involved in some bad habits and surrounded herself with the wrong people. After moving to Rochester, she decided it was time to grow up as she’d had children to provide for. She strived to maintain a perfectly organized life, trying to plan and control everything, but it always ended in anxiety and stress as she struggled to achieve those goals independently.

She came to faith one day after a bad dream that ended with her and her kids kneeling to pray, and as they did, the darkness in the dream became light. As she dwelled on this heavy dream, she felt God gave her this feeling of safety. It felt like he was sitting right by her side at that moment, and she knew he would always keep her safe.

Christ has changed her life in everything that she does. She turns to him when making decisions, and she has given up the control she used to hold so tightly, choosing instead to trust Him. She is entirely different from who she used to be because of her faith in Jesus.
